For a little taste of Victoriana on your next beach vacation, check out Cape May, New Jersey.  Though it is at the southern tip of the Jersey Shore, you needn’t worry about encountering Snookie or any of her compatriots in this quaint town full of Victorian-style architecture.

There’s also an old lighthouse dating back to 1859 that you can tour.  A climb to the top will give you a lovely view of the surrounding area and out to the ocean.

The Emlen Physick Estate is a Victorian house museum in a beautiful old home from 1879.  You can take a tour of this home year round and afterwards take afternoon tea at the Carriage House Cafe and Tearoom.

They even have a Victorian Weekend complete with home tours, dinners, and a fashion show.  Check it out here.

There are lots of Victorian places to stay while you are there like the beautiful Queen Victoria above.  Or the Albert Stevens Inn shown below.

So if you tire of ferris wheels and pizza slices during your week on the Jersey Shore, trek on down to Cape May for a slice of Victoria.
