A friend of ours pointed out this article to us recently.

Perhaps our British readers know all about this; according to the Associated Press, the Bank of England is changing the face of the five pound note, replacing Elizabeth Fry with Winston Churchill.  Was Churchill really not on the money until now?  I find that surprising, but anyway, apparently Mrs. Fry was the only female historical figure on the Bank of England bills so now there are no women represented.  This caused a bit of a stir, so the Bank of England issued a statement reassuring people that Jane Austen is already featured on non-circulating “reserve” notes, and that she will likely soon make an appearance on the official currency.  How exciting!  Here is my suggestion for a design.  Please send all royalties to the Vicky A’s.
